Florida Department of Education Fingerprinting
New Florida Department of Education Fingerprinting and educator certification requirements started being enforced from January of 2014. Employees of nonpublic schools must seek Florida DOE Certification and must be fingerprinted and screened in accordance with s. 1012.32 and must not be ineligible for such certification under s. 1012.315. A persons who has been screened by a district school board or the Department of Education within 12 months before the date the person initially obtains certification is not required to repeat the screening. A person may not receive an educator certificate until the person’s screening is completed and the results have been submitted to the Department of Education or to the district school superintendent of the school district that employs the person. Every 5 years after obtaining initial certification, each person who is required to be certified must be rescreened.
Florida Department of Education conducts Level 2 Background Screening by requesting a criminal history checks both from Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
