According to the FBI's National Crime Information Center,

· 797,500 children (younger than 18) were reported missing in a one-year period resulting in an average of 2,185 children being reported missing each day.

· 203,900 children were the victims of family abductions.

· 58,200 children were the victims of non-family abductions.

· 115 children were the victims of “stereotypical” kidnapping. (These crimes involve someone the child does not know or someone of slight acquaintance, who holds the child overnight, transports the child 50 miles or more, kills the child, demands ransom, or intends to keep the child permanently.)

Research has shown that it is critical for parents and police to have access to current fingerprints, vital statistics and current photos to use for comparison when a missing child is believed to be found. Given the recent increase in high-profile child abductions, and the many more that go unpublicized, IDENTICO is taking action.

With support of Law enforcement, we at IDENTICO provide our resources and attention to the children in our communities. Our CHILD-ID solutions offer everything to prevent child abductions and to expedite the retrieval of children who are lost or abducted. With the power of IDENTICO’S ten-print fingerprint scanner and software, communities will be able to process children three times faster and with considerably better image quality than with traditional ink and paper or single fingerprint scanners. Our comprehensive ID cards give crucial demographic and biometric data for the child to parents or guardians.

The process takes about 5 minutes per child. We begin by having parents/guardians fill out an information sheet about the child. Then we enter the information into special live-scan interface software. Each child's fingerprints and photos are taken. In a few minutes the parents receive TWO Child I.D. cards and CD. A hard copy of CHILD-ID comes with child's fingerprints along with a printout of all his/her vital information. You can have as much, or as little information on the printout as you want. You tell us what information to include on the hard copy.

We are available by appointment for groups of 15 or more kids. IDENTICO is available on a mobile basis 7 days a week. If you have 15 or more kids that need to be fingerprinted, we can come to you! We do carnivals, fairs, parties, and any other type of social gathering. Our goal is to make sure that as many children have Child I.D.'s as possible. We want to give parents peace of mind that in the event of emergency, law enforcement agencies will have the necessary information to help locate that child.
